Privacy at Opa!
How this website handles information, and how we handle messages through Google.
Counting visits
On opamezzegrill.com, we use Google Analytics to count visits, such as the pages viewed, how far down a page you scroll, the site that sent you, your browser and device type, and the rough location Google works out. Google receives this, and may set cookies named _ga and _ga_… on our site to do it.
When you tap a link that leaves our site, we note only where it leads, such as Toast or DoorDash, or just “phone” or “email”, and sometimes which button it was, such as delivery or reservations. What you type, phone numbers, email addresses and the rest of a web address stay out of what Google receives.
Links to Toast online ordering add a short Google Analytics code to the address, so that if Toast reports orders to our Google Analytics, an order can be matched to the visit that led to it.
Google ratings
Our Home and Our story pages ask Google for Opa!’s current rating, so your browser contacts Google directly there.
Message forms and settings
Our message forms don’t send your message from this website. The message is prepared in your browser and reaches us only if you send it from your own email app.
Your light or dark theme choice, and where you were on a page, are kept in your browser and stay on your device.
Messaging us through Google
If you message Opa! from our Google Business Profile in Google Search or Maps, the chat runs through Google’s business messaging in your phone’s Messages app. An automated assistant may answer common questions from our Business Profile and website. For other questions, it may pass the conversation to our staff or ask you to call us.
We see the messages you send in that chat and use them to answer you. Google handles them for us and may share them with the mobile carrier that carries the chat. Google may also use them to train its systems that spot spam. Reply STOP at any time to end the chat; messaging us again starts it again.
Other sites
The sites we link to, such as Toast for ordering, DoorDash, Uber Eats and Grubhub for delivery, OpenTable for reservations, Google Maps, Instagram and Facebook, are other companies’ sites with their own privacy terms.
Your choices
On a computer, Google’s opt-out add-on turns Google Analytics off in your browser. Blocking or clearing cookies stops it from recognizing a return visit.
In a Google chat with us, reply STOP to end it.
